Family Holiday Guide
If you've been to Fiji before you'll know that the Fijians are so family-friendly. Taking a holiday in Fiji with the children will almost guarantee that everyone has a great time. So what makes Fiji a good family holiday destination?
- The people of Fiji - men and women - have a natural caring for children and you will find that all staff will welcome you and your family with big smiles.
- The warm climate ensures that the children will be able to engage in outdoor activities and not get bored. Even during a tropical rain shower, it is still warm and can be fun to swim and play outside!
- Fiji involves a relatively short journey - just 3-4 hrs from Australia's east coast or Auckland in New Zealand. No time to get too bored or frustrated by long drawn-out journeys.
- English is the main language spoken, so your children will be able to communicate easily and enjoy interacting with the Fijians and Fiji children also.
- Fiji has an exotic and interesting culture - a great educational holiday with no resemblance to a classroom!
- All-inclusive resorts are available if you want a destination with everything in one place - accommodation, activities, pool, kids club, restaurants and bars.
- Baby-minding and child-minding services are almost always available. You can relax and enjoy adult times knowing that the kids are well cared-for and having a great time. Fiji holidays with kids can be fun!
- The school holidays in Australia and New Zealand fall in the 'shoulder' season in Fiji, meaning that you do not have to pay a premium price.
- On the other hand, Fiji is close enough to take a quick family holiday during the winter school break. In Fiji it is also winter at that time, but very much warmer! It is the high season, with less chance of tropical showers and lower humidity.
- Fiji is a safe, welcoming country and recent challenges to the tourism industry mean that one can find cheap Fiji holidays and special deals.
Kids Clubs
Many of the larger resorts and hotels have kids clubs, often for children of varying age groups. Younger children can enjoy learning and watching all the many uses of the humble coconut. Coconut palm climbing, hermit crab races, volleyball and other sports, learning Fijian - so many things to do.
Meals and Meal Plans for families
Most resorts and hotels offer a children's menu with smaller portions and interesting variety - at a lower cost, of course. Meal Plans are be a great way to go, and are offered at most destinations, so you then do not have to worry about costs and budgeting during your Fiji holiday. Just relax and enjoy!
Where to go
One of the most popular areas for family holidays is the Coral Coast - only 1-2 hours drive from Nadi, so easy to reach. Lots of large resorts, and trips and tours available in the local area. However, families are welcome throughout Fiji so consider the beach resorts in the Mamanucas or Yasawas (boat transfers), or adventure holidays in Taveuni, Savusavu or Kadavu (light plane transfers). Do not overlook what is available in all the regions for your Fiji family holidays.
